Day 21: Christmas Treats for Pups!

I have been so busy baking away for all my human friends and family, I had forgot that I could do some treats for my canine ones as well!

These are really simple dog treats that bake up really quick and are an awesome gift for any little puppy dogs that might be in your life (young or old).

Maxxie has already tested them and then proved he liked them by jumping up on the kitchen counter and barking at them to try and have more.

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

This recipe makes about 24 biscuits depending on your cookies cutter.

*Important note to remember: Dogs have sensitive stomachs, its always best to introduce new treats in only small bits at a time, so they don’t get sick. Also this recipe has flour in it so this is not suitable if your dog has allergies to wheat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup SMOOTH peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup mashed banana
  • 1/4 cup vegetable stock (chicken or beef are also fine)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 170 C.
  2. Combine the flour, peanut butter and mashed banana with a stand or electric mixer.                                                  dsc_0148
  3. Add stock and mix until the dough comes together.                    dsc_0149
  4. Shape the dough into a ball and on a lightly floured surface, roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Using any kind of cookies cutter (I have a bone shaped one that was perfect) cut out cookies.
  6. You can gather the scraps and re-roll and cut more until all dough is used.
  7. Place cut outs on a lined baking tray.
  8. Bake for 14-16 minutes until golden brown.      dsc_0153
  9. Let them cool and you can give to your puppies to enjoy!

Store the cookies in an air tight container, and you can wrap them up as lovely dog-friendly gifts.

Hope you get lots of puppy cuddles from your canine friends! If you make these treats for them, I would love to see pictures of the dogs trying out these treats!
